Privacy Policy

1. Who's Behind This Site

Auction Atlas is operated by Dan Kohler, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If you have any question about your privacy or your information, email hello@auctionatlas.ca and it comes straight to me.

This policy explains what I collect when you use www.auctionatlas.ca, why I collect it, and what you can do about it.

2. What I Collect

Information you give me directly. When you sign up for the playbook, I collect your email address. If you buy something or book a call, I also collect your name and whatever details that process requires.

Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, mine records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you stay, and which link or advert brought you here.

Payment information. If you buy the course, your payment is handled entirely by my payment provider. I never see or store your card number.

3. Why I Collect It

• To send you the playbook you asked for
• To send you emails about school auctions, fundraising, and my products
• To deliver and support anything you purchase
• To understand which posts and adverts actually bring people here, so I stop wasting effort on the ones that don't
• To keep the site working and secure

I only send you marketing email because you asked for something and gave me your address — that's your consent under Canada's anti-spam law (CASL). You can withdraw it at any time.

4. Cookies and Tracking

This site uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, including advertising pixels from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. These let me measure how many people who saw one of my posts went on to download the playbook, and they may be used to show you my adverts on those platforms afterwards.

You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, and you can control ad personalisation inside your Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok account settings. Blocking cookies won't stop you downloading the playbook.

5. Who Else Sees Your Information

I do not sell your personal information, and I never will.

I do share it with the services that make this site run. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy:

• Klaviyo — stores your email address and sends my emails
• PayHip — handles course checkout, payment, and delivery
• Meta and TikTok — advertising measurement
• My web host — serves this site to your browser

I may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it's genuinely necessary to protect someone's safety or my legal rights.

6. Where Your Information Lives

I'm in Canada, but several of the services above store data on servers in the United States and elsewhere. That means your information may be processed outside Canada and can be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access requests by their governments. By using this site, you understand and accept that.

7. How Long I Keep It

I keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. If you unsubscribe, I keep a minimal record that you did so, purely to make sure I don't accidentally email you again.

Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

8. Your Rights

Whatever country you're in, you can ask me to:

• Tell you what information I hold about you
• Correct anything that's wrong
• Delete your information entirely
• Stop sending you email — every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, or just reply and say so

Email hello@auctionatlas.ca and I'll take care of it, normally within a few days. There's no charge and I won't ask why.

If you're in Canada and you're not happy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Children

This site is for adults — parents, volunteers, and school staff running fundraisers. It isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given me their information, email me and I'll delete it.

10. Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and the services I use are established providers with their own security practices. That said, no website can promise perfect security, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

11. Changes to This Policy

If I change how I handle your information, I'll update this page and change the date at the top. If it's a significant change, I'll say so by email.
